Hi, I'm Andrew Knight, founder and owner of Home Helpers - Commercial & Domestic Cleaners Ltd.
I was born and raised in Gloucester and have spent most of my life in and around the county. I attended Saintbridge School, now Gloucester Academy, and my family still lives locally today. Over the years, I have played rugby for Old Centralians & Hucclecote and football for Harrow Hill in Drybrook. I also spent ten years living in Cinderford, where my children still live.
Before starting Home Helpers, I worked in sales, management, and later IT project management within the banking and payments industry. I hold PRINCE2 and Agile project management qualifications, a degree in English Literature with Honours through the Open University, graduating in 2020, and a Master's Degree in Business Management from the University of Wales Trinity Saint David in 2023.
In my early forties, I was diagnosed with ADHD and dyslexia. What I once viewed as challenges have become some of my greatest strengths. They have helped shape how I solve problems, build systems, and run businesses.
The idea for Home Helpers came from personal experience. Over three years ago, I ruptured my Achilles tendon whilst playing football and spent three months on crutches. Suddenly needing help around the house myself, I realised how difficult it could be to find reliable support. That experience inspired me to create a cleaning company built around professionalism, reliability, and customer service.
I launched a Facebook page and secured our first seven customers within twenty-four hours. Within two months, I had left my corporate career and committed to Home Helpers full-time.

What started as a simple idea quickly grew into something much bigger.
Within six months, we had moved into our own office and laundry facility on Morelands Trading Estate in Gloucester, where we remain today. Since then, Home Helpers has grown into a trusted local business with a fantastic team of ten staff and an expanding customer base across Gloucestershire.
We provide domestic cleaning, commercial cleaning, Airbnb and holiday let services, laundry services, and specialist cleaning solutions for homeowners, landlords, businesses, and property managers.
From the beginning, I wanted Home Helpers to be different. My background in project management taught me that systems, communication, and accountability matter.
Every member of our team uses digital scheduling and reporting systems. We use geofenced time tracking, digital cleaning plans, and quality control processes to ensure our customers receive the service they expect.
Following each visit, customers can receive detailed cleaning reports, photographs where appropriate, and notifications of any maintenance or property issues identified by our team.
If a customer pays for two hours of cleaning, they should receive two hours of cleaning. We believe in transparency, accountability, and delivering what we promise.

Over the years, our commitment to quality has been recognised through several awards and achievements.
We have been finalists for Best New Business in the Believe in Gloucester Awards and have been ranked among the Top Three Commercial Office Cleaning Companies in Gloucester for three consecutive years.
Our Airbnb and holiday let cleaning services have also been recognised nationally, with Home Helpers shortlisted in the Domestic Cleaning Industry Awards.
Personally, I was honoured to receive a Global Recognition Award for resilience, leadership and overcoming adversity.
Today, Home Helpers is supported by a dedicated team of ten staff. Every member of our team is carefully selected, trained and supported to deliver professional, reliable cleaning services.
We are fully insured, DBS checked and committed to maintaining the highest standards of service. As a qualified Mental Health First Aider, I also believe strongly in creating a positive working environment where staff feel valued and supported.
We know that great service starts with great people.

Outside of work, family remains my biggest priority. I enjoy spending time with my daughter Isla (14) and Son Evan (20) and supporting their interests and ambitions (and spending money on them).
Following my Achilles injury, I made a conscious effort to focus on my health and wellbeing. I now practise yoga three to four times each week and regularly use an infrared sauna and ice baths (when feeling brave enough) as part of my fitness and recovery routine.
Reading has always been one of my greatest passions and probably explains why I still buy far too many books. My degree in English Literature sparked a lifelong love of reading, learning, and personal development.
When I'm not working, reading, or exercising, you'll usually find me cooking, walking Bella, my five-year-old Border Collie, or spending time with family and friends.
Thank you for taking the time to learn more about Home Helpers. Whether you need regular domestic cleaning, commercial cleaning, Airbnb support, or specialist cleaning services, we would be delighted to help.
We are proud to be a Gloucestershire business serving our local community and look forward to welcoming you as a customer.
